“CRC-Mavic Bike Check: Kelan Grant”

The 2019 season is stirming after the eternity of a off season. Kelan Grant pedigree is undeniable, Irish national champion and winner at some of the biggest UK races including the Ard Rock Enduro and Tweedlove.

A long term Nukeproof athlete, Kelan has always been a big fan of the 29″ wheel. Since we introduced it back in 2016 he has been on one and is super comfy with feeling that its the right tool for him. At present he’s the only one of his team racing the Mega 290, but for this year its awesome to see that he will get some new technology to support him!

First off, as with all the CRC-Mavic team bikes is the striking Nukeproof yellow finish. A hark back to our “corporate brand colour” seemed only right.

Kelan’s weapon of choice for 2019 is the alloy framed Mega 290 (Size Large). This is then finished with the finest components from all the teams sponsors. This is fitted with Rockshox 170mm Lyrik up front.

The Rockshox Super Deluxe rear shock out back and personalised name details.

To personalise the bike a little we came up with a well known Irish stout- Yoga mix theme theme, with decals from Slik Graphics.

Well known for a bit of impromptu Yoga in the team, (giving rise to the nickname Jurgen) a few of his favourite poses. #namaste

New for 2019 is the 2019 Michelin DH22 tyres. He will be running the Sram Eagle X-01 12 speed with Carbon 170mm cranks and a 34t Sram chainring (New DUB cranks coming soon).

MRP have supplied the AMG chain devices to keen the chainring in tact at all time

Kelan has been trying a few set up changes with our 35mm Horizon stem and 38mm rise Horizon handlebars run at 780mm wide.  To complete the HZN range Kelan runs our red HZN Saddle and seat clamp

Running our Horizon CS clipless pedals

More mid stage motivation for Kelan on the downtube

As with all the riders they will run a Mudhugger up front come rain or shine.

Sam Hill Signature super soft grips on the bars with Sram Code RSC brakes with 200mm front and 180mm rear rotor.

Out testing the new vessel and immediately at home ready for the EWS season ahead. The Team will use Mavic kit and footwear again this year with 7IDP knee pads and 100% eyewear.
