Nukeproof component’s rider and current youth rider Cameron Cornforth competed in last weekend’s IDMS in the Elite category. Here’s his round-up of the weekend.
Got up at half 6 on Saturday morning to walk the track as I heard there was a few changes since last time.
I was pleasantly surprised at a new natural top section with plenty of lines to choose from and couldn’t wait for practice! I bit the bullet and signed on as an elite despite being 16, I figure that having tougher competition will help me to push it.
I got 4 runs in and sectioned a few bits to as there was so many lines to choose from, I ditched my clips and put on the Nukeroof protons which kept my feet glued down when i needed them to, Sunday came around and I couldn’t wait for race runs, Seeding went ok, Took it easy as I wanted to take in how the track was changing coming into my run, a few new lines popped up to avoid the holes forming, My race run went pretty well, clipped a tree in the middle that killed my speed and cost me a second or so, I finished up 6th in elites and would have won juniors so I suppose it was a good way to start the Irish season! next up is the first BDS next weekend!,
