Dan Sheirdan wins Canadian Open

Practice started with a late training session on Friday. With big ques I only got 2 runs. The track was amazing, with a mixture of rocky slab sections and technical woods with some big jumps, a 50 footer gap at the finish.

Early morning practice on Saturday, again a 2 hour block with big ques.  Unfortunately a mechanical meant I only got 1 run in. Not ideal as I still wasnt up to speed properly, would have to make Sunday morning practice count!

After practice on Saturday the Red Bull JoyRide slopestyle event was on, it was nuts to watch! All the guys were going huge with some massive crashes!

Sunday morning was time to make it count and get up to speed. I did 2 runs and was finally feeling good on course and confident for finals.  I got my bike ready with help from Paul Miles and was all set.

After bad luck all week at the other events i was giving this 100% to try and finally get a result and my run went amazing, despite a few small stalls in the forest but that only lost a couple of seconds. I pedaled hard to the finish and went massive off the finish jumps and smashed the best time by a big margin. The crowd and atmosphere was insane with a TV chopper hovering. I had to wait till last man down Zander crossed the line but he was 4 seconds back.  Stoked! The crowd was great with everyone congratulating me and shaking my hand, it was pretty amazing.

The crowd was massive for the podium which was a great experience.

My time held up well and would have placed me 20th out of 118 in the pro  category. Im really happy to have ended on a great result and show what im capable of when I dont have anything go wrong. Huge thanks to my sponsors who got me out here and also big thanks to Paul Miles and the guys at Giant for the pit and support all week!
