“A perfect weekend for the Nukeproof Development team”

Mt. Hillary, Mallow in Southern Ireland was the location for the 2nd round of the Nukeproof IDMS . Thanks to 021 Racing for all their work on getting the track ready and hosting the race. The Nukeproof Development team were really looking forward to the race after the short break from Rd 1 in Carlingford.

“The track was open, fast and rough which suited me.” – Jack

The guys were really enjoying the track during practice on Saturday only taking them a few runs to feel up to speed.

“ With Jack being a local, he was able to help me with line choice on Saturday and I was up to speed by the end of the day really looking forward to race day, the Nukeproof Pulse felt amazing on track!” – Kelan

First off for the team on race day was Jack, he had an outstanding run to finish 1st in the Junior category by 10 seconds. (Placing him 7th overall in Elites.) Here’s how his weekend unfolded;

“ On Sunday morning the wind was after dying down so it made the track even faster. I got two runs in and had everything dialed. My first seeding run didn’t go to plan when I got red flagged so I went back up for my second run and was stoked to qualify first. Race run came and I was feeling really confident. I ended up putting in a solid run, until the end when I crashed over the finish line, but still managed to take the win in juniors by 10 seconds and was really proud to get a time good enough for 7th overall. All and all it was a great weekend. “- Jack

Kelan was next up and after seeding first with a blistering time he was the last man down the hill. All eyes were on the live timing waiting on Kelan coming down the hill. He kept it safe in finals and took the win by .5 of a second over Dirt Orange World Team rider, Jacob Dickson.

“Seeding was more or less a perfect run for me setting the fastest time of the weekend. My seeding run time was over 4 seconds faster than anyone so I knew I had to keep it consistent for finals. I had a fast and clean race run with the track being blown out from a dry weekends racing, but I manged to come down and take the win. This topped of a perfect weekend with Jack taking the win in the Junior category. I was stoked to be riding the Nukeproof Pulse and back up to pace on the Downhill scene”– Kelan

A perfect weekend for the Nukeproof Development team and it was a testament to how hard the guys have been working in between the races.

Next up is the 2nd round of the First Tracks Enduro Cup at Bigwood, Northern Ireland on the 9-10th May where Kelan and Chris will be hoping to continue the teams winning streak. Thanks to all the team sponsors for their continued support, Nukeproof, Bell Helmets, Schwalbe, SRAM, Ride 100%, Mucky Nutz, Point1 Athletic Development.
