Unfortunately Dan was still injured but came along to support the team on Sunday race day.
After walking the track on Saturday morning the guys were very excited for practice as it was a track they had ridden before and really like especially in the amazing sunny weather the weekend brought. The Lads busted out about 4 runs on Saturday practice and were having loads of fun riding with each other on the dusty track and were looking forward to race day.
The Guys awoke early on Sunday morning and got 2 runs in before Ben headed up for his seeding run, Unfortunately seeding runs got canceled due to Michael Cowan having a very bad crash who we hope has a very speedy recovery. Due to seeding runs being canceled practice got extended for another few hours so the guys got another 2 runs in before race runs.
Ben headed up first for his run and here is what he had to say "I have always like riding Carrick, the track is amazing being very rough/flat out and fun, also the weather was amazing and my run couldn't have gone any better, I just took a more chilled approach to this weekends race and tried to have allot more fun and it payed off well, as soon as I left the start gate I settled into my run well and took the win by 3 seconds and got the 4th fastest time of the day.My goals now are to keep riding and training as much as possible and to keep this consistent into the next rounds"
Chris was riding very well all weekend but wasn't happy with his result, here is what he had to say about his run. "The track in Carrick is one of my favourite, fast and rough with a few tricky sections to test even the best of riders.I was disappointed in my result and my race run, I was riding well all weekend and then when it came to my run I just rode too cautious. Apart from 1 mistake my run went well I just didn't ride aggressive enough. I have taken positives from it and now looking forward to smashing some runs down Val Di Sole!"
Chris, Dan and Greg will set off for their trip around Europe this week to race round 2 of the world cups in Val Di Sole while Ben will be staying at home finishing up exams and his next races will be the Irish Nationals,Round 3 of the Halo BDS in Glencoe and will hopefully be attending the Scottish Champs in July. All in all another great weekends racing.
