“Welcome to Nukeproof Jacob Dickson”

This year Nukeproof are proud to add Jacob Dickson to our athlete card. Since we fist saw Jacob riding in the skate parks as a kid, he’s always been one to watch. With a glittering Junior CV accomplished, its now time for Jacob to step up to race the fastest elites in the world. Nukeproof Factory Racing is proud to be supporting Jacob through 2016 and look forward to working with him and his family to achieve our mutual goals.

How did you get started Mountain Biking?

I raced motocross for 4-5 years from the age of 7. After that I got into downhill because of my dad, I watched him race for years as a kid and I knew I wanted to be just like him. He has helped me a lot through the years and continues to push me further. I wouldn’t be the rider I am today if it wasn’t for him, so I am really thankful for that.

What category/ series are you planning on racing this year?

This year I will be riding in the Elite category. I hope to be competing in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Series, World Champs, British Downhill Series and hopefully do some of the Irish Downhill Mountain Bike series rounds between races.

What’s the mountain Bike Scene like in Northern Ireland/ Ireland?

Yeah the scene here at home is really good, it is very chilled out compared to all the other races I do. Everyone knows everyone, and its always a laugh, so I really enjoy riding at home.

 What are your favourite trails?

My favourite trail would be the World Cup Track in Mont St Anne, it has everything you need in a track, from flat out open sections to natural tight woods. Couldn’t forget about my home trails! Rostrevor Mountain Bike trails has everything basically, from steep natural stuff to flat out trail centre tracks. As well as good XC runs for training

What’s your biggest result/ achievement in mountain biking?

I think my best result and achievement is is between:  coming 3rd in juniors at World Champs in 2014 or 3rd overall in the World Cup Series in 2015

How did it feel to win your first race/ title?

It felt good to win my first race but nowhere near the feeling of coming 3rd at World Champs, that feeling was indescribable.

How was last season, what have you done to prepare for this season?

Last season was really good. I got the Junior overall in the British Downhill Series, Irish National Champion,  and 3rd overall in the World Cup as a junior.  My preparation and training for the 2016 season in top secret!

What do you do to relax off the bike?

To relax off the bike i usually ride my BMX, go out for dinner with my Girlfriend, and hangout with my mates and basically just be outside!

 What inspires you?

My family and close friends because they are 110% behind me and know that I am capable and have a good mindset of getting to where I want to be.

 What’s your bike set up?

That is for my dad and I only haha.

What does it mean to you to ride for Nukeproof?

I am really thankful for all there help they have given me for this year and the previous years as a kid. Riding for Nukeproof is pretty special to me because they are home grown brand, and I have a good relationship with everyone at the Nukeproof head quarters! Up the Irish!
