We arrived at Carrick, Wicklow for the Irish Championships around 8:00pm on Friday and the weather was great.  The sun was out and I could not wait for Saturdays practise.  On Saturday I went up for my first run of the track.  It was so fun and flowy in within 2 runs I was up to speed.  I got 5 runs and did not need any more and just could not wait for Sunday race. There was a dual slalom on Saturday night and I got second place overall. On Sunday I went up for a run the track in the morning and i broken my mech so didn’t get any practice . Then it was time for seeding I got down 17 second ahead of second place with the time of 1.30.675 and seeded 1st.  I was happy with that and I knew I could go fast . It was the time for the race run and I went off last as I had seeded first.  In the second last stection I hit a stump and got a slow puncture and went in to the last flat section and got over the line with a flat tyre with a time of 1:31 but still got the win and the Irish Champs title and i won a Nokia n8 phone from the sponsors.

I’m delighted with the win and would like to thank my sponsors for helping me throughout the year and thank the sponsors of the event for great prizes.

Jacob Dickson
