Congratulations to Joe Smith for winning one of the most competitive national series championships in the world. With an array of talent featuring World champions and World cup winners such as Gee Atherton, Danny Hart, Josh Bryceland and reigning champion Marc Beaumont as well as emerging World cup stars such as his CRC-Paypal team mate Mike Jones (who completed an amazing podium for Nukeproof) to compete against this British series has some of the toughest competition going.
Joe has shown consistency, speed and a winning mentality to secure the overall title with a 4th place at the latest Antur Stiniog round of the series to add to his 2 wins in the 5 round series.
Amazing season too for BMX ace and Wideopen Mag racer Kye Forte to grab (dominate) the Masters class of the BDS. Kye has podium’ed at every round this season, mainly on the top spot. With a 2nd at Antur Stiniog this time out. Not bad at all considering this is Kye’s second full year of mountain bike racing.
As well as Joe, Mike Jones finished in a strong 2nd position on the day to take the final podium spot overall, backing up his forth position at the World Champ’s race in Vallnord. An awesome end to the season for Majestic, which has seen him cement his reputation on the world scene.
CRC-Paypal Junior, Elliot Heap scored another podium in the super tight BDS Juniors category. Great result for Elliot who is showing the speed to match his apparent style and bike craft.
As well as Elliot Wideopen Mag rider, Charlie Hatton produced another stella performance for another podium, amazing results from these two 1st year Junior riders.
With the final round the BDS team organised a #BDSlegends race, with UK racers donning there 90’s race kits and borrowing bikes to race the hill side once more in memory of the 20th passing of the pioneer behind so many of today’s racers: Jason McRoy. Nukeproof Supplied 3 bikes to the cause, Lee Bertram- the eventual “winner”, Keith Wilson and Andrew Parks as well as Team CRC- Paypal Manager Nigel Page. The race turned into a Dual Between Lee and MTB commentator/ superstar and former champ Rob Warner for the prize of ink’ing the winners time on there backside. (Lee coming out victorious) aboard his Pulse.
Congratulations again Joe and Kye from all of us at Nukeproof, very proud to have you on our bikes.
Come and see the new range of Nukeproof Bikes, we will be at the Cycle Show NEC, Birmingham on stand A42
