“Barry Sheene Replica Mega 275”
Barry Sheene; a true legend. A unique character with a huge personality. he inspired a generation and was influential beyond motorcycle racing. The British 2 time world champion was more like a rockstar and his antics on and off the track made him a hero to around the world. It’s easy to understand how a young impressionable 2 wheel fanatic from Wigan could not help but idolise Barry Sheene growing up. With No. 7 strapped to his bike, just like his hero, a youthful Nigel Page was shredding the BMX tracks. From BMX came a hugely successful career racing mountain bikes and now as an he is the ultra successful manager of the Nukeproof powered Team CRC-Mavic.
Here is the trailer from the upcoming SHEENE movie will be out later in the year (from the makers of Rush.)
The Discussions for this bike started last year, but we failed to mention to Pager that we had sorted it and would be bringing a present to Ireland! We think it was a nice surprise judging from the smiles!
A huge thank you to Elite Refinishers/ Refurb My Bike in Belfast who hand painted this frame. This si teh 3rd major project we have done with them- and we have been stoked with every one of them. (They hand painted Sam Hill’s Grave Digger last year and Matti Lehikoinen’s Jarno Saarinen frame last year). Johnny from their has sent us a few images of the bike taking shape:
As well as the frame we spoke with team sponsor Mavic, who knocked it out the park with the replica kit and Gold Mavic Deemax pro wheels.
Despite his many years of racing, Nige has never had a custom lid! we sent Herve from 100% an idea and the OCD knocked it out the park with the custom painted Aircraft lid. Defiantly worth the wait.
“It was a very special weekend for myself as Rob Sherratt from Nukeproof surprised me with a very special custom Nukeproof Mega 275 frame. We had discussed some ‘hero’ bike designs over a year ago and Rob had been working hard to get me a custom painted Barry Sheene replica bike done (my childhood hero) and to top it off Mavic had custom painted my Deemax Pro wheels gold like Barry’s and made me some custom pants and jersey to replicate Barry Sheene’s racing leathers. Then the icing on the cake: 100% had custom painted me an aircraft helmet – again, a replica of Barry Sheene’s helmet. I was like a big kid at Christmas, what an amazing gift thanks so much to Rob and everyone involved I am very grateful, I definitely won the coolest bike and gear award for the weekend!”
We are stoked how it turned out:
Simply Stunning all together with the Mavic Deemax and Sram Eagle in Gold
Personal details using the retro Texaco logo
Finished with New Nukeproof Horizon (soon to be released) Copper pedals, Grips and saddle
Moto Mud Guard came in handy care of Mud Hugger
As with any bike they are made to be used! despite his reservations of getting it dirty, it wasn’t long before it was ready to shred the trails in Wicklow. Luckily it was fully Invisifram’ed (Kit from www.Invisiframe.co.uk) to keep the paint unscathed and sat on the podium with Nigel pulling another awesome 2nd position in the Masters category.
Barry Sheene would have been proud! 2nd master home
Part of a trio of CRC-Mavic podiums with Elliott 1st in u21’s and Sam 2nd Overall
Embracing the spirit of Barry Sheene (Not Barry White, Sam..)
Massive thank you to Mavic, 100% and Elite Refinishing.
