“Sam and Nigel Podium again”
Congratulations to team rider Sam Hill!
Two Enduro World Series races in 2016, racking up a total of 5 podiums (all 2nd places) is an impressive return from the new Nukeproof Mega and the CRC-Paypal downhill team.
Dubious how he would fair on the long Italian Alp stages, Sam Hill‘s sheer speed and consistency piloting his Nukeproof Mega 275 over the La Thuile event was impressive. Despite two crashes he managed to overcome former La Thuile winner Damien Otton to finish an amazing 2nd overall, winning stage 5 overall.
Well done Sam, awesome to see you and the new Mega on the podium at this level.
Sam wasn’t the only Nukeproof on the podium; team manager Nigel Page was an amazing 2nd in Masters on his Mega 290. Taking a break from watching the team ride, Pagey added another podium on the bigger wheeled Mega to the one he scooped in Ireland. Well done Pagey!
Both riders were on our Sam’s Signature Horizon flat Pedals using our Carbon Warhead bars and Vector AM saddles.

Beyond the podiums, we had great results for Elliot Heap in 6th (Junior) and Matti Lehikoinen (Mavic-Nukeproof) finished an impressive 24th. As he missed a few EWS rounds Matti started way back in the pack so had a few back-markers to overtake! (check out Matti’s costume Jarno Saarinen bike here on Vital MTB).
Joe Smith struggled to repeat his top 10 from Ireland with the longer stages, but still finished an impressive 47th amongst some of the bigger “enduro specialists.”
Amazing views and incredible trails
We also had Nukeproof brand ambassador and athlete trainer Chris Kilmurray in 88th, Wideopen, team rider Chris Hutchens in 64th and One Planet Adventure’s Ed Roberts in 94th. Unfortunately our Nukeproof Development ace Kelan Grant had a issue with his rear wheel which took him out of this weekends race.
