Another successful race for the Moycullen race team – check out their latest news here.
Arriving late after the satnav took us for an unscheduled detour we finally found or way to the pits well after dark to find the MBW van and tent set up and ready for the weekend by Derick Davoren and the crew from MBW Tullamore. After good nights sleep the MBW riders all arose to begin practice on the Saturday.
The track, short and fast with the faster riders getting sub 2 minutes, was loose yet dry. With some tight corners around trees that like to clip your shoulder and two nasty rock gardens still greasy from rain the previous day led for some interesting lines from riders. With the rain holding off all weekend the rocks had dried up nicely for Sunday morning and the two hours of practice that morning saw the riders getting much more speed.
In the Under 14s MBWs Jacob Dickson took first place with a time of 1:49.427 on his first run and Luke Cornforth taking second with 1:53.273. In true MBW Racing style the two boys left the rest behind with a gap of 16.7 seconds to third place taken by Jack Crowly from 021 Racing.
The Under 16s was no different with Cameron Cornforth on the top of the podium with a time of 1:42.104. A blistering time that would have put him in 4th place in the elites and 5th fastest time of the day. In second place at 12.5 seconds behind was Angus Fyffe and in third was Jack O’Sullivan
The junior category was dominated yet again by MBW Racing with Gavin Carrol taking first with the third fastest time of the day of 1:39.057. In second was Chris Murphy and in third was Stephan Graef.
Scott Coyne was on the podium again with second place in the sports category, only half a second behind Jason Wilson taking first. That places Scott in second place on the over all standings for the league so far. Not a bad result for his first year of racing.
