From Nigel:

” This race was a huge two day event with 100km of riding and six tough stages, three on each day with nearly 50 minutes of total race stages. The stages also had some of the fastest sections of the year with riders clocking over 60kmh and all this at 11 1/2 thousand feet of altitude!

Coming into this race Sam was sitting second in the championship and so it was all to play for with just three rounds to go.

Chilled out and composed as ever- ready for a couple of Huge days racing

Sam was having a great time in practice and was loving the tracks – when that happens you know he will be challenging for a top result, but how well could the flat pedal-sporting Australian do racing at altitude?

Just out enjoying the awesome stages on his Nukeproof Prototype

Stage one and Sam stamped his authority with a stage win by just under a second from Specialized factory rider and last year’s Aspen winner Jared Graves.

Overnight rain left the dirt perfect for Sam

Stage two was a super long stage and Sam managed another great ride to place fifth and then second on stage three putting him second overall at the end of a big first day behind last year’s champion Richie Rude.

Altitude- No problem, just no time to enjoy the stunning Aspen views

The tracks on day two were going to suit Sam even better and so things were looking good for the downhill legend.

Sam’s day couldn’t have started much better with a second place on stage four and another stage win on stage five putting Sam into the lead by seven seconds with just one stage to go with Jared Graves in second and GT’s Martin Maes in third.

The sixth and final stage was a nervous wait for us all but Sam held his nerve and did enough coming in 12th to take the overall win!
Full Commitment from Sam on ever stage over the 2 days

This was a massive result for Sam and the team moving Sam into the number one position in the championship with two rounds to go on his new Nukeproof prototype.

Sam Hill- Top of the world and into the overall lead of the Enduro World Series

Congrats Sam you are a legend we are all so proud of you buddy.

Thanks very much to Jacy Shumilak for looking after Sam and his bike and Fraser Britton for keeping us all up-to-date during the stages and awesome photos.
