Dan Sheridan and Ben Kennedy of Team Nukeproof competed in the IDMS recently. Here’s their report from the event.
The first round of the new iDMS (Irish DH MTB series) was held last weekend in Rostrevor, Co. Down. With sunny weather all weekend the fresh new track was dusty and quite challenging! Unfortunately Chris had to miss this race as he is still nursing his injury from South Africa, but is making good progress and was in attendance to support his team mates, Dan and Ben.
Practice went well, both riders were feeling confident on the track and ready to put in a quick time come Sunday.
Sunday morning ended up being a nightmare for Dan, with a brake problems he missed all of Sunday morning practice and had to race with a barely working rear brake. No practice and no brake didnt inspire confidence come race run.
Dan commented on his race run:
"I got myself together for my race run and knew I had to make the best of a bad situation. I had no practice and pretty much no rear brake but I went for it anyway. I had a terrible run nearly going over the top of every turn due to not being able to slow down. I thought I would be totally out the ass but I put in a pretty good time considering and finished 5th in Elites with a time that would have won Juniors by nearly 10 seconds. I was annoyed at the situation but took some positives out of it as it shows I am on a good pace at the moment!"
"My run started off well, Hit all my lines and had a good top and middle sections, Got a bit out of shape near the end and slid out loosing some time, apart from that felt good all weekend and had lots of fun on the dry dusty track."
Ben finished 3rd in Juvenile showing good pace for the season ahead.
