With only a day at home after returning from Val Di Sole the team were back on the road headed to the Scottish highlands for the 3rd round of the UCI world cup in Fort William.

Fort William is a track that all the riders enjoy and have done well on in the past. With a new lower motor way section they were all excited to get practicing!

Friday went well for Greg and Chris, both getting solid runs in and feeling confident on track. Dan on the other hand had a huge crash in his 3rd practice run, face planting a rock garden at high speed. Luckly to have gotten away with only a cracked helmet and having to sit out for the rest of the day.

3 runs on Saturday morning and the team were confident for qualifying. Greg was off first and put in an amazing time which qualified him in 24th position, only 1 second from the top 20! Chris and Dan both pushed hard in their runs, possibly slightly too hard which caused alot of mistakes meaning they finished in 95th & 97th , both only 2 seconds from the cut off.

Another disappointing result for the 2 junior riders but they are still gaining valuable experience and speed, just need to learn to put it together for qualifying runs.

The rain came in for Sundays final and Greg got some good practice runs on the wet course, feeling confident for a top 20 come race runs. Watching Greg on the big screen was amazing and he was ripping the track up, coming across the line 4 seconds up on Bryn Atkinson and taking the lead. Greg was only knocked out of the hot seat when race winner Aaron Gwin came down and beat his time. With a final result of 17th position, only 4 seconds off a world cup podium, it was certainly an amazing weekend for Greg and the team!

You can watch Greg’s run here at the 1.48 mark:
