Nukeproof Giga
NUKEPROOF GIGA
GLUTTONY IS NOT A SIN
As riders, we are all guilty of the gluttonous sin; enough is never enough in the hunt for the ultimate ride or result. There is a constant push for bigger, longer, rougher and faster with ever increasing demands on the performance and capabilities of our bike and products. The pursuit is endless. It’s a philosophy that athletes like Sam Hill live by. The new Nukeproof Giga is the embodiment of this idea; Designed to be the ultimate hard-hitting Super-Enduro weapon for when you just need more.
The brainstorm was to trial a “mini version” of our Dissent downhill frame as a potential platform that could take on the roughest and toughest Enduro races and/ or lap all day in at the bike park. We were always confident in the descending capabilities of the Dissents horseshoe linkage design but needed to ensure the pedalling characteristics allow the rider to get back to the top again in relative comfort. As soon as we turned the cranks of the test mule, we knew we were on to something special. Despite the obvious weight of the mule (which was still built to DH standards) it was super-efficient and climbed well, but on the descents, it was incredible. With Team CRC Manager Nigel Page leading the charge in testing (once tried, we couldn’t get the mule back!), the concept had to be turned into reality.
Behind The Design:
From the initial mule, it was back to the drawing board to create a next generation frame. From hand sketches to CAD modelling, the concept was fully re-engineered to bring the Giga in line with all the modern “enduro” standards (148mm back end, insertion depths for dropper posts, perfect the geometry etc.).
The re-packaged design makes no compromises. The Horse-shoe driven linkage (with a 2-stage main pivot flip chip to alter suspension progression) is wrapped by the carbon frame allowing us to enhance the performance, whilst further optimising frame components for performance and to save weight whilst sculpting in space to fit the essential water bottle. All frames are designed “Tube-in-Tube” to allow for easy cable maintenance and assembly.
Using UD 700/800 carbon fibre allowed us to optimise the stiffness and compliance of the frame layout. The front triangle layup has been tailored for stability and precision, whilst the rear triangle was designed for compliance to help tracking with the ground and improve and optimise grip. Another bonus of the lightweight carbon rear triangle is that it has a lower un-sprung mass for ultimate suspension performance.
Five sizes in both Giga 275 & 290 Tube In Tube cable routing |
Available in sizes small to XXL and in either 27.5” or 29” wheel size (both frames are designed and around each wheel size), ensuring the perfect fit for everyone. The frame geometry is “Long, Low, Slack and Steep” as it is based around our saddle offset principle, which ensures the seated riding position is tailored across all sizes, with steeper seat angles on bigger frames. The Seat tube is also designed for maximum seat post insertion to allow maximum drop.
The Giga’s downtube is sculpted to accommodate a 750ml water bottle when using our custom carbon bottle cage (supplied as standard). The frame also has an accessories mount under the top tube for emergency trail tools. An integrated rear mud guard is also built into the frame to help keep the shock running fresh. As with all 2021 Nukeproof carbon frames, a factory fitted clear paint protection kit is standard along with additional 3D contoured rubber downtube, seat and chain stay protection.

With 180mm (27.5”) or 170mm (29”) rear travel it has plenty in reserve for when you need it. But the Giga is much more than a monster truck of a bike. To pigeonhole it as a point and shoot machine would be a disservice as it is so much more capable than this might suggest. Due to the way that it uses its travel; the Giga gives you the feel of a big bike, yet the versatility of a modern super-enduro bike. The Giga has a dynamic yet confidence inspiring ride to help you push your limits in all kinds of terrain. It’s equally at home at super rough enduro stages of venues like La Thuile, as it is lapping the biggest lines in the Whistler bike park.
The Suspension Design:
Leverage Ratio and Forces:
The Giga has 2 leverage curves that can be selected by flipping a lever on the main pivot, this can be done in a matter of seconds on the trail.
Setting 1 = 25.5% progression
Setting 2 = 29% progression.
Both settings have a super supple beginning for small bump compliance. They also both have good mid-stroke support for better cornering and pumping.
Like the Dissent, the progression drops off in the end stroke to
prevent mid-stroke harshness or spiking and allows more tuning options with volume spacers. The + Progressive setting can be used to add shock
progression on a coil set up just like adding a volume spacer to an air shock. The added suppleness is also good in wet slippery conditions.

- Grey= Progressive Setting
Anti Squat (Fig. 1):
- Setting: 96% (32-50T)/ 39% (32-10T)
+ Setting: 100% (32-50T)/ 56% (32-10T)
Same design as Mega: High 96/100% in climbing gear for better pedalling efficiency.
Note: We believe that low anti-squat but good mid-stroke
support is a winning combo for climbing traction. However we believe that anti squat should never prevent suspension from working well over rough terrain. Therefore anti-squat drops off when descending to give ultimate small bump compliance and remove rough trail and root chatter.
(39/56% for descending gears)
Anti Rise (Fig. 2):
We wanted a balanced amount of Anti-rise that tails
off for bigger hits. This allows some squat when
braking hard into a corner to maintain rider position
whilst still offering a good amount of pressure
through the tyre, into the ground ensuring traction
under hard braking.
